the clothes line

i am just sitting here.

nothing to do. but completely content.

elle is napping. the laundry is hanging. and i am sitting.

elle threw up today. i am not sure why. maybe she is sick. or maybe the late night at the giants game + pizza and some garlic fries got to her. i don't know but i always think a lot when she is sick.

today my thoughts surround a clothes line. we are in california right now. zach has a conference and elle and i came for the ride and good company. my dad and madeline have the most wonderful clothes line in their back yard. i love it. the pool. the flowers. the lemon tree. the basketball court. i love it all. and today was laundry day.

first load i had to wash the "contaminated" laundry. as i hung elle's little slippers and sheets and pj's, i realized why i love the clothes line. i thought of her while i was hanging, hoping that she would feel better and thinking how much i love this little girl.

and even though i love all things about freshly hung laundry (the way it smells. the crisp feeling. being energy and price efficient) i love more the feeling of taking care of my family and their clothes as i hang each article carefully and let dry.

random.i know.

zach has an interview tomorrow. as dan would say "take luck." maybe i can get a clothes line if we move.

oh and i recently read a blog post entitled "Brooke Williams: 'Our Secrets to a Happy Marriage'" after hanging the clothes. i liked it. check it out.

I love clothes line, I was just telling Chris the other day how I would love to have one in our new home someday since I grew up with one. So Zach is interviewing in CA? Sweet, you will have to let me know how it goes. Hop on over to read my stellar of a day =), glad you had a calm one! Love you

Beautiful post Jess. My mom say she loves to fold laundry because she thinks about each person as she does, and says a little prayer for them. Now we're all out of the house, it's just her & dad...wonder if laundry folding makes her miss us... Not the work part of it of course.. :) Aren't the feelings we have for our children so intense at times... waht a gift to love so deeply...thanks for the reminder to pause. love you!

Hi! What a sweet post and a darling family you've got here. Thanks for entering my giveaway! Hope you don't mind me popping over to your blog to answer your question! If you really want to follow my blog - and I seriously am ok with you not doing it too! I'm not about peer pressure, honestly I'm not! But there is a thing in my right column of my blog that says something like "hair obsessed club" or something like that. You should just be able to click a button around there that says "follow" and that will hook you up! Thanks again for playing along & good luck! :)
